Austria, in commemorazione del trecentesimo anniversario di Maria Teresa d’Asburgo, ospita numerose mostre in 2017 per onorarla.
Dall’Austrian National Library all’Art History Museum, tutti in Austria vogliono festeggiare quello che sarebbe stato l’anniversario dell’unica donna della Casa d’Asburgo.

Nata a Vienna nel 13 maggio 1717, la figlia dell’imperatore Carlo VI d’Asburgo ed Elisabetta Cristina di Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel fu una regina eccezionale. Sposò Franz Stephan von Lorena, con chi ebbe sedici figli in un felice matrimonio. Quando il padre di Maria Teresa morì senza un erede maschio, suo marito divenne l’imperatore e lei, soltanto in termini colloquiali, l’“imperatrice”. Invece, sì fu coronata Regina di Boemia e “Re” dell’Ungheria.
Maria Teresa ed i suoi assessori fecero diverse riforme e progressi in Austria. Modernizzarono l’amministrazione, l’esercito, l’economia e l’educazione.
